Welcome to the GMA PTO!
We would like to welcome everyone to Geist Montessori Academy and to the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Our goal is to help make our children’s experience at GMA enjoyable and successful. WE can accomplish this by supporting our classrooms, teachers, administration and support staff. We can also host fun activities for the GMA families so they can socialize and grow as a community. Please check our GMA PTO Calendar of Events 2019-2020, PTO General and Event Committee Meetings 2019-2020 and read through our brief FAQ section below to learn more.
What Does It Mean to Be a Member?
That depends on you! We invite you to become an active participant in your student’s education by being involved in the Geist Montessori PTO. The level of involvement is up to you! A small amount of time from everyone translates into a huge amount of involvement for the school.
Why be a Participating Member?
Participation through volunteering allows you to be “hands on” with your child’s education. All research indicates that when families are involved, a child is more apt to succeed in the classrooom, be more likely to graduate, and go on to college. Our children love to see us in this environment where they spend seven hours a day. You get to know your child’s teachers and friends.
Participation through attendance at PTO meetings give you a voice. You help decide what we do as a group. You help decide where the money should go. If you are new to our community, the established families are available to answer questions and ease your transition into becoming a school family. If you are new to our community, we’re always happy to help wherever possible. An added bonus is that you have the opportunity to meet wonderful people who can become great friends.
Isn’t the PTO only about fundraising?
The GMA PTO is more than just frundraising. Fundraising is really just a necessary evil. It is our privilege that we are able to help meet the educational needs of the students. We are only able to do that through our families’ willingness to participate in our fundraisers. The Super Hero Run is the main means to raise money for items such as classroom supplies, Montessori education for teachers, supplies and equipment for the classrooms and playground equipment. It also helps in funding staff appreciation, science night and the talent show.
