New Campus Facility

Pre-K & Kindergarten

Students focus on Sensorial Lessons. These intentional practices build fine and gross motor skills as well as help young children learn to concentrate and focus – two skills we are not born knowing! These lessons prepare our youngest learners to practice visual and spatial discrimination in math and science as well as prepare their tiny hands for the task of holding a pencil and learning to write.

Library Space

Our library space is used throughout the day for teachers and support staff to work with small groups of students away from the classroom. Students sometimes use this space to work on collaborative projects or as a place to play board games or draw during indoor recess times.

Classroom Space

All of our classrooms feature large windows to allow for natural light. Classroom environments are designed with the child in mind, so furniture and shelving is child-sized. There are spaces for children to work independently and collaboratively in all classrooms.

Montessori Materials

At Geist Montessori Academy, our skilled teachers use the Montessori materials and approach to teach children standards-based lessons that align with the Indiana Academic Standards. As a public charter school for students in Kindergarten through eighth grade, we are accountable to the State of Indiana for the academic progress of all students. This blending of the Montessori Method and materials with standards-based accountability is what allows us to offer this unique tuition-free educational opportunity to our community.

Inquiry-based Learning

Classroom shelves offer students choices in their learning. This example of a Middle Elementary Science shelf has lots of learning opportunities for students to engage in inquiry-based learning about our planet's land and water, rocks and minerals, and landforms and waterways.

Teach Peace

At Geist Montessori Academy, we are committed to teaching children to be peaceful problem solvers. From Pre-K through Middle School, our students learn how to self-advocate and solve problems peacefully. Each learning environment has a Peace Table where students are invited to come together to work through difficulties and come to a peaceful resolution with their peers.

Gathering Spaces

Classrooms feature large group gathering spaces for community meetings and whole group activities. Students also have plenty of choices about workspaces to decide where they can do their best work.

Music Education

Our students enjoy hands on learning throughout the day, and especially in Music class! Over the course of a school year, students are engaged in music education through rhythm-based learning with drums and xylophones. They also learn to play melodies on hand bells. Our students even have the opportunity to learn how to play the ukelele!

Meaningful Learning

Students engage in meaningful learning and explore creative ways to demonstrate what they've learned through projects and presentations like this one that an Upper Elementary student did for a book project.

Peace Garden

Our Peace Garden received a make-over in December 2021, and we now have a large stage area with a beautiful, nature-inspired mural as a backdrop. The picnic tables will have umbrellas and stands for shade. There will be five wooden, A-frame style swings with shade canopies installed in the space very soon. The raised garden beds provide students an opportunity to learn about growing produce and sustainability.

North Fork Dry Branch Creek

One of the best features of our campus is the North Fork Dry Branch Creek. It is gorgeous year-round and home to several native species of flora and fauna. Classes enjoy taking time beside the creek to do observational drawing and writing lessons, explore tiny ecosystems, take water and soil samples to observe under the microscopes, and much more! It's also a great place to enjoy some time of quiet reflection and relaxation.

Playground Space

Our wonderful PTO provided this play structure for our playground space. Students love playing together during recess times!

Healthy Lifestyles

Our students in Pre-K through eighth grade benefit from PE class multiple times each week. Here, students learn how to stay active for a healthy lifestyle and how to be a teammate.
