Geist Montessori Academy provides an academically, socially, emotionally, and culturally rich educational environment that allows children to explore using their natural curiosity and become lifelong learners in the process. Academics infused with character building and community awareness to form the whole-child and prepare our students for life.
Geist Montessori Academy was developed from an established, private Montessori school, which desired to offer affordable Montessori education. In 2006, the school became a public charter under the supervision of Ball State University.
Today, the school houses 14 classes spread over two campuses and remains a tuition-free, public charter school for Indiana residents. We have been planning for several years to combine both campuses under one roof. We are currently on schedule to occupy our new school facility by 2020. During the 2015-2016 school year, the state of Indiana granted Grade A status to Geist Montessori Academy for academic excellence. Students at Geist Montessori Academy enjoy hands-on experiences in every subject through the use of Montessori materials. Teachers offer input and guidance in this process to help students achieve state academic standards.
Additionally, Geist Montessori Academy values parent involvement. Each parent is encouraged to serve the school in some way during the school year. Some parents find they are at-home in the PTO and others enjoy assembling materials at home or working in their child’s classroom garden.
